A few years ago I took an image on a whim, driving along a road south of Moab. The image itself never really inspired me. There was something about it, though, a capacity that hadn't been captured at first. Eventually, these pseudo-peaks with a river of clouds flowing through their gap emerged.
It's fascinating to consider that some images lie beyond our visual field. Compositional arrangement is typically approached with lots of research, exploration, and patience. There's a waiting to "find" that which is already envisioned. What if, however, the envisioned composition had already occurred across different times and places? One of my favorite artists, Benjamin Everett (@bejamin), demonstrates that this approach still takes lots of research, exploration, and patience. His images continually strike me as thoughtful and attentive, perhaps even more so than some photos taken in one fall of the shutter.

*I posted this image a while ago on my Instagram but it's quality was heavily impacted by compression and downsizing. Hence, I wanted to share it again - this time with the quality I had intended.
